gratitude

I was walking down the hall the other day at school and I had the overwhelming feeling of gratitude. I appreciate all of the people that make my job and life easier. For example our pool guy always comes in early to get the cold pool up and running before any of the teams need it. Our training room secretaries are always so patient and helpful with this dumb grad student who thinks she knows more than she does. I love them!

I have the worlds best boss. She always makes time to help me out of a bind or listen when I need to complain or need an opinion! I also have a great family and a great "second family", who love me and have been so accommodating to my diet. My roommate has always been my right hand accomplice and I love having her there to help me get a better perspective and teach me new things everyday! I also appreciate my little nephews. They are so loving and cute. My life is filled with joy knowing they are my boys. I never understood unconditional love until they came along!

I have so many people that surround me that seem to have been put there for the sole purpose of making my life wonderful! I believe that seeing peoples testimonies through their actions is one of the best blessings in this world and I hope that I can convey mine through my actions! Thank you everyone that has influenced me for good! I am in debt forever to you!

Day One... of maintenance!

Well it is time for another update! I am finished officially done with the 500 kcal days. I finished the spray Monday night and then followed up with three more days of the 500 kcal regimen. Today is my first day of jumping up to 1000 kcal diet. I am super stoked for a few things... First of all I can have a lot more options for fruits and veggies. The plum tree in our back yard is calling out to me! Also, I get to work-out! yippee! I have been craving working out, that sounds silly, but it is true!

There is one other important piece of info that I am dying to write. I just hit my 50 lb mark. I am 165.8 as of this morning! ( that is since I started my healthy venture, not just from the hcg) 20 more lbs to go and I get to my goal weight. I will try to post some before and after pictures soon.

Otherwise I feel like gold! I am so proud of my accomplishments and am reaping the benefits daily of being less and less over weight. My rhr is about 64 bpm. That is well over 20 bpm less than when I was 215lbs. I am rarely sweating or over heated by just walking somewhere. I don't get out of breath by sprinting. I am the luckiest girl in the world to get all of these benefits in such a short time!

If anyone is debating on getting healthy, just go for it. You have nothing to lose and there is no time like the present. Do it in a healthy way and you can get all of these same benefits!

day 30

This diet has been so easy that I feel like I have nothing to write about. I am on day 30 today and just had my dr. appointment today. I weigh in at 171.9 today. I am down 44 lbs total. It feels good. I also saw a GI specialist last week for my stomach pain. He is going to do a colonoscopy next wednesday. I am hopeful that we can finally get some answers. I have 10 more days on HCG and then start my maintenance phase. I hope to be down in the low 160s or if I am really lucky into the 150s. We will have to see. Otherwise I am doing great and can't wait to see myself at my goal weight, which seems actually real now that I have come this far! yay!

Day five, six, seven…

Ok so I am not disciplined enough to write daily, but at least I am trying. Last week was a bit overwhelming because I played babysitter for most of the week to my adorable, but sometimes overly energetic 21-month-old nephew. Overwhelmed I was!
Keeping the house in order, making sure he didn’t destroy everything I hold dear is a full time job! Oh did I look forward to naptime! It was Krista's naptime too!!

Don’t you worry though; amidst the stress I still had a fantastic week losing weight at an incredible speed! I had my first appointment after starting the HCG and for only being on the medicine/diet part for 5 days I lost (according to them) 9 lbs. When I was naked weighing in, it was closer to 12 lbs. I am going to go with that one.

Sadly, I have stopped dropping large numbers like 4 lbs a day, and it seems silly but I got a little discouraged to only see ½ to 1 lb weight loss from day to day. Then I tell myself to snap out of this! I have lost, wait for it…. 31 lbs since I have started my healthy venture this summer. How awesome is that. I just have to remember that!

Ok I know you are dying, how did I deal with yummy looking goldfish and teddy grahams staring me in the face all day long?!? You will be happy to know that I haven’t even struggled at all. This is a fantastic weight loss plan! I am so motivated by the results it is easy to say no, even to those things I find so tempting! I know this is somewhat premature, but I would suggest this to anyone who is serious about losing.

Oh you are wondering about the limited food, and if I am bored yet. Oh yes I am, some days I am forcing the meat down. Partly, because I am not hungry and partly because I am not the biggest meat fan and this diet makes you eat a lot of meat! Don’t worry though I have come up with some ways to be satisfied!

I do have a few secrets though…

Secret #1: popsicles made from crystal light and sprite zero is a great treat. It is a hot summer and I love me my popsicles. This way I can enjoy the best of both worlds (if you try it beware that it looks and feels more like a flavored frozen ice cube)

Secret #2: Mrs. Dash seasonings are the best invention EVER! I bought four spices that are salt and sugar free. My favorite is the lemon pepper (at least today). This way I can a different flavor every time I eat. This helps a lot. Also, I found a great blackening seasoning recipe that I use too. It has salt and sugar, but I substituted the sugar with splenda and just skipped the salt. It tastes fantastic! I will post it soon!

Secret #3: Strawberries. Ok this is not a secret, but I think they fill me up so much and they are so gosh darn sweet it really is a treat eating them.

Secret #4: Cut up my apple in really thin slices that way it goes farther. I love to munch without thinking about what I eat. By cutting up an apple into 20 pieces I can munch for quite some time and I love it!

Secret #5: Cold water/ crushed ice. As I mentioned earlier I love to just munch. I have found that munching on crushed ice is almost as good as a bowl of M&Ms. I call them my anorexic M&Ms infact! Lol. I am hilarious!

Well that is all I can think about that is exciting for this post. I will update after my next appointment (in 3 day).

Good luck on your own healthy venture!
